Johnny Abegg, known for his introspective storytelling, creates a poignant narrative in his latest film, Fragments of a Half Life.

The film is an abstract journey that delves into the profound loss Johnny experiences after the death of his father, as he dives deep into the emotions of grief.

Choosing to surrender to the complexity of grief, rather than drowning in death, Abegg finds the more he allows his father’s passing to flow through him, the closer he comes to living a deeper and more meaningful life.

Alongside his mother’s recount of the life his father never shared, Johnny explores the intricate relationship between father and son.

Letting grief have its way with him, Johnny resurfaces, to find solace in the impermanence of life, with an understanding of where to find his father's presence.
