Special Presentation: David Wenham and Paul Cox
BBFF2015 is delighted to welcome international star David Wenham straight from the set of Pirates Of The Caribbean 5 for a special presentation about his latest film, Force Of Destiny. On Saturday March 7 at Palace Cinema Byron Bay, audiences will have a rare and intimate opportunity to gain a “sneak peak” at some of its scenes before the film premieres later in the year.David will be joined by the film’s director and Festival Patron Paul Cox, who wrote the book upon which the film is based, Tales from the Cancer Ward, an account of his experience with liver cancer and transplant some years ago.Force Of Destiny is a fictionalised version of that account, with a protagonist diagnosed with the disease whose love for an Indian woman changes his way of looking at life and impending death. Some of Paul’s shrewd observations make it into the film, such as his comment about the doctor giving him the diagnosis: “There was no eye contact, which worried me more than all the potential bad news.”The two men will discuss the film, which has the line “A journey of love on a transplant waiting list” as its sub-title.David Wenham is one of Australia’s most successful and widely loved actors – he’s even been voted the sexiest man alive – with a swag of film, stage and TV credits to his name. Since becoming a household name in SeaChange he has appeared in critically acclaimed Australian films.Among them are Gettin' Square, Stiff and The Brush Off and he has also made a name for himself on the world stage, in two Lord Of The Rings films, Van Helsing, 300, The Crocodile Hunter and Moulin Rouge.Paul Cox’s extensive canon includes Man Of Flowers, My First Wife, Exile, Innocence and Human Touch. He had a hit with Vincent – The Life And Death Of Vincent Van Gogh in 1987.Join us for what is certain to be a high-energy, stimulating presentation, and a highlight of the 2015 festival – but be quick.
