Hiraeth traverses themes of migration+home through protagonist Jane, played by Diva Cory, a First Nations Canadian woman who migrated to Byron Bay, birthing her daughter here. Featuring the voice of Gumbaynggirr Yaegl man Mick Laurie (Maanyung) who specifically wrote lyrics in local language - as a call to all women to return to the land, to take their place in caring for the waters.

Inspired by a true story, Hiraeth blurs genres of nature documentary and narrative, and it is hoped that in a post Covid-19 world, the separation between women and the natural world is also blurred, transforming the way people see female sexuality, that of mothers particularly.
